Eva Broadway

Eva grew up near Ithaca, NY, the daughter of a teacher and a woodworker. As a kid she enjoyed playing the cello and building small projects with her dad in his wood shop. The beauty of Lutherie was finally introduced to Eva when her parents took her shopping for a cello, and she got to see a work in progress. A kind luthier in the shop showed her how he was repairing a crack and she was hooked.

Eva began her career in lutherie with an apprenticeship in Ithaca, New York. That apprenticeship turned into a job, and she worked there for 3 years while simultaneously attending the violin restoration courses at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, under Hans Nebel. Eva went on to attend the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, often taking extra summer classes to learn more repair techniques. She got her certificate in 2013. Eva currently resides and works outside of Boston, Massachusetts doing repair and restoration of violins, violas, and cellos, and she has been a presenter at the Women in Lutherie international conference.
